My first Minnesota Wild game.
On Valentines days we decided to do something insane. Drive up to St Paul, see a Minnesota Wild hockey game and drive home in the same day. I got the tickets a few weeks ago and got 2nd row, center ice. The game was at 2pm, which would normally work perfectly for a day trip. However, the weather decided to work against us this time.
The drive up was not too bad. I-90 was snow packed and we had to drive pretty slow, but we still got there in 5 hours for a trip that normally takes 4.
The game was awesome! They won against one of their biggest rivals 6-2. I got lots of pictures and videos. Click on the picture on the right to see the photos. I posted the videos to my youtube account — Youtube videos
The game got over around 4:30 and it was lightly snowing. We made it to Mankato with roads that were a pain to drive on, but still passable. Then we hit St James and the roads got really bad. Drifts were covering the entire right lane and the wind was so bad I could not see past the hood of my car. Luckily we were only a few miles from Windom and ended up staying the night with Nicole’s grandma. It was the scariest driving I have ever had to do. We got damn lucky. Monday morning we played the waiting game to see if the road conditions would improve. We decided to take a chance and head out. The roads were not too bad the rest of the way home, but I still had to take it slow.
In all, the trip was totally worth it. I cannot wait to go to another game. But this time, it will be in April when hopefully the snow will be gone.
